Peter Furphy

Peter Furphy is currently a Director of Hydrozone Pty Ltd and first started his horticultural career working in the retail nursery trade before qualifying with an Associate Diploma of Applied Science (Horticulture) from Melbourne University’s Burnley College in the early 90's. After leaving Burnley, he worked as an arboriculturalist and then worked with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment producing environmental impact statements as part of the salinity program in northern Victoria. Other roles involved carrying out flora and fauna surveys and protecting significant habitats and managing the tree growing program for the Shepparton region.

After spending time overseas, Peter returned to help manage the families irrigated dairy farm near Shepparton in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley. He then completed his Bachelor of Applied Science in Horticulture, from Melbourne University’s Burnley Campus and taught Horticulture at Tafe.

After graduating Peter worked as a landscape gardener and then as an arboriculturalist surveying street trees using GPS mapping technology. It was at this point that Peter joined forces with his brother David Furphy and developed the Hydrozone Water Management Plan concept.

Peter now lives in Warrnambool and devides his time between there and Melbourne meeting with clients, collecting field data and compiling Hydrozone Water Management Plans.
